Curious about the gender of the tiny tenant who's been
subletting your uterus for the past nine months? I believe you are here seeking
for the answer, tips and guides. Guess what? You're not alone my friend. Since
the beginning of time, expectant parents have tried to guess whether the baby
they are carrying is a boy or a girl. Here's the scoop on seven of the most
prevalent myths about predicting the gender of your baby together with the fact
of each myth.
HEARTBEAT
Myth
It is believed that if the heartbeat of the baby is less
than 140 then it will be a baby boy and if the heartbeat exceeds 140, it will
be a baby girl.
Fact
Although this particular myth has been kicking around for
decades, there's only one study on the books that supports it: a 1993 study at
the University of Kentucky that concluded that the fetal heartbeat could be
used to correctly predict the gender of 91% of male fetuses and 74% of female
fetuses. Heart rate will keep varying with pregnancy stages. Keep a check that
it must not go out of the range (normal foetal heart rate is between 110 and
160 beats per minute)
Yes, the Drano test is really popular – moms to be just love mixing the potions, watching the white smoke clear and observing the color change. But unfortunately, the Drano test is not scientifically accurate. You do of course, have a 50% probability that the result will be correct but if you wanted a probability of 99% with a baby gender test using urine than why not opt for a DNA test?
Yes, there is a scientifically validated DNA test that uses maternal urine samples to tell you the sex of your baby. This DNA test can be done at just 9 weeks so that gives you ample time to decide on clothes, names and bedroom color schemes. You might at this point ask yourself how the gender DNA test works. Well, the DNA of the baby you are carrying is currently swishing around in your blood stream. Now as you probably know, your blood gets filtered by your kidneys. Once in your kidneys, this very efficient filtering organ flushes out your baby’s DNA with your urine. Using a very advanced method of analyzing the urine sample, scientists can determine if your baby is male or female depending on the baby DNA fragments they find in your urine.

SHAPE & SIZE OF TUMMY
Myth
This myth is based on the English folk wisdom that the boys
need greater independence and are carried down below while the girls needs more
protection therefore they are carried high up. According to this myth, if you
are carrying a girl, it will be high up in the belly and if you are carrying a
boy, the featus will be held low and down. However, there are no scientific
studies or experiments to support this myth.
Fact
The way you carry your baby is depend on muscle tone. Tummy
goes low as the baby gets ready for delivery. The shape of your body, your
muscles strength, your pre-pregnancy structure and pregnancy postures define
the size and shape of your tummy. Nothing to do with girl or boy!
ACTIVITY LEVEL OF THE FETUS
Myth
The activity of a featus inside the uterus has always
ignited discussions among the obstetricians and doctors. This myth is based on
an assumption that boys are more active inside the uterus while the girls are
more placid. If the baby inside the belly shows more movements then it will be
a boy and if it stays calm mostly, it will be a girl.
Fact
This myth is also untrue because the movements of the baby
inside the uterus depend on many other factors.
MORNING SICKNESS
Myth
It is said that if the mother does not experience severe
morning sickness in early pregnancy, she is having a boy. Theories such as this
one have been tossed around for years, but a recent study added more fuel to
the fire. Swedish researchers discovered that 56% of women hospitalized with
severe morning sickness ended up giving birth to baby girls. Even if there is
something to this study - the findings aren't exactly definitive.
Fact
The hormone “Relaxing” of the mother is responsible for
nausea and morning sickness. That being said, there are plenty of women who
will argue with this method of baby gender prediction. Lots of women who have
boys get morning sickness in early pregnancy, while some who have girls don't
get morning sickness at all. Nothing is impacted by baby sex.
